Good Morning All!
Thanks to all for your for your well wishes and prayers for Tim, they seem to be working! Leah called me this morning (Sat.) with the good news that Tim may be able to come home tomorrow!! All of his systems have to be in working order so they won't know until later today, so keep those positive thoughts and prayers coming.
I will let you know when I know more.
Have a great day!
Love, Ellen

DAY 3
Khara (again) here-
Kyle, Sawyer and I just came down for a short visit. We were pleasantly surprised. He is doing so well. He has much less tubes today. He is getting up and sitting in a chair for short periods of time. The nurses & doctors say he is doing very well and he is improving. His blood pressure is good, and his pain is being controlled. He is bored, and cannot sleep. One Doc told him he can sleep when he gets home, lovely.
He is in 70 Francis Street- Shapiro Building- room 706 East. If anyone wants to call, visit or send anything. I know he'd love to hear from you.

2nd Day
Khara Again,
Hello all! Thanks SO very much for all the love and thoughts for Dad.
Today is the 2nd day, the kids and I just arrived this afternoon to check on he and Mom.
Mom is doing very well, she is a tough COOKIE~
I just went in to see him, and I was surprised at how good he looks. His color is very good, he looks a tad swollen. But he is sitting up and talking. He has a TV that is on an arm above him that he has at his disposal. THANK goodness, because he does not like to sit still. And we all know how much he loves his TV.
His pain is being controlled well, and has about 6 tubes running in and out of him. He is still in ICU and will remain there for the evening. He should be moved tomorrow.
Keep the good thoughts coming. We all appreciate it.

HE'S DONE! Sucess!
Khara again- Dr Cohn just came down from surgery to tell us that everything was over and done! I am SO RELEIVED! It's over. (well that part at least). Dr. Said "he was a mess in there", there were 6-7 cords hanging from his mitral valve. It's all repaired, with a larger incision than expected, but Dr said he was a "deep guy", and that's the only way to have it repaired properly.
Mom and I will be meeting him in ICU in a bit.

Dad is in surgery
Hi all!
Khara here-
We got to the hospital on time this morning and got Dad's Pre-Op stuff taken care of. The staff here is excellent and were very welcoming. The Doc came to see him as well as Kyle's cousin Susan a Care Coordinator here at the hospital. Very very good to see her. They started a few lines for iv and such and then we got shooed away as things needed to be sterile. He had a nice cocktail of relaxers when we left him.
Mom and I left Dad's side an hour ago to wait here in the VERY nice waiting area.(a ton of computers to use, tv, coffee, bagels etc) We will be here for the next 4-5 hours while they complete the surgery. He will then go into ICU for an hour before going to his room.
I don't know much, but will either update or Ellen will later.
Thanks SO much for all the love and thoughts.

Tim's surgery
Hi everyone,
As some of you may know Tim is going to have heart surgery this Thursday. He is having his mitral valve repaired, he will be in Brigham & W omen's Cardiac Unit and Dr. Cohn is his surgeon. Please remember him and Leah in your thoughts and prayers. All is expected to go well and the good news is that with the exception of the mitral valve Tim has a really healthy heart!
I will keep you updated once the surgery takes place. I will also let you know where to send cards once I know.
On behalf of Leah & Tim, Ellen
